Barbara Kruger Assignment

1. What do you see in this piece of art (describe it)?

In this piece of art I see, spots of creativity in a boring society, when the building is poping out of the crowd, to me I see creativity coming out, and we should encourage different people to come out, and change society. It's the different people that shape the future.

2. What kind of message did you try to give in this piece of art?

The kind of message that I am trying to give in thgis piece of art is that creativity is the key to a brighter world, when I said "Demand red in a black & white world" It means that people need to stand up and demand change, we will not change anything for the future if we don't fight for it.

3. Do you like or dislike this piece of art?  Why?

In my personally opinion like this piece of art because, it's original, creativity, and inspiring. I also like the message that goes with this piece of art. I find it to be true, inspiring, and motivating because, we have to stand up and fight for a better and more creativity world.

Barbara Kruger Critique

1) What do you see in this piece of art (describe it)?

What I see in this image with the message "You destroy what you think is different." I see hate, and people that are disgusted of being different, these two people look at it like it's a horrible crime, in my personal opinion. Society has a very plain mind, only on one road, and these people represent society, and their view of the world is probably just money. That is why we would encourage the people that are different, because they are the one's that change the world.

2) What kind of message is the artist giving in this piece of art?
I think that the message the artisit is giving is that society is telling us that being different is bad, and that you can't be creative. What I also see in the piece is the two people represent society, and they appear to me that they are looking down at the people who are different, meaning that it is bad to be different. I don't believe this, I believe that the people who are different are the one's who shape society.

Do you like or dislike Kruger’s work? Why?

I personally really enjoy Barbara Kruger's work because, she has a lot of powerful messages in her work. She really inspires people with her words. What I aslo like about Barbara Kruger is her style, I like the old pictures, tied in with splashes of red making it, a picture to take serious thought into. I think that she wants you to take your time to look at ther work, and really understand the words with the picture, and what she is trying to tell you.

Halloween Town Reflection

1. What did you like most about your game?

What I liked most about my game, is how creative it is, it's kind of depressing colours, I also liked the pumpkin sun in the second ground level, and I like the third ground level the most because, i like the curly mountain, and jack with sally on top of the mountain.

2. What did you like least about your redesigned game?

What I liked least about my game is that the paint job was horrible in my opinion, I thought that i could have spent more time in designing this game, and payed more attention to detail.

3. Why is your version better then the original?

I think that my version of the Moonlander game is better because, the original is sort of plain, it's not eye catching, I think that mine not be the best, but in my opinion it's definately better, mine has more colour, more objects, and an amount of detail.

Moonlander Re-design Brainstorming

My brainsotrning idea for my vision of the moonlander game is a Halloween Town theme, from The Nightmare Before Christmas.I chose this theme because, I really like The Nightmare Before Christmas movie, it's one of my favourites, and I thought that the Halloween Town would be a great idea. What I am planning on doing with this re-design idea, is having the Halloween gates in the background, and having crazy houses in the first ground level, then for the second ground level I was going to have a Christmas Town idea, and then for the last ground level, I am going to have the famous curly mountain with sally and Jack together with the moon behind it.

Picture Text #1

Picture Text #2

Picture Text #3

1) What I liked most (overall for all three)?
What I liked most about all three of my pictures are the erasers, and brushes in them. I love how in the second text picture, the cherry blossom, and the petals have a flying affect. I also like the paint splatters in the first text picture. In the third text picture, I like the filter that is on it, with the two colours purple, and blue.

2) What can be improved (overall for all three)?
What I think that can be improved in these three pictures is, maybe adding some more colour to the first and second text pictures. I also think that I could have also been more creative, as to where to put my words in the picture.

3) Which specific picture was most successful of all three?
The picture that I think was most successful in my opinion, was the first picture because, I find that everything flows together, the wording goes with it, it’s not tacky, and congested, everything just works.

3D Invention

1. What I found most successful on my invention was the colours of my invention, and also how well I but it together. I also like the design of it, the way the sphere's are placed, and how the glare really makes my invention pop!

2. What part of my invention that I found least successful was how the sphere's were placed because, when I was painting the sphere's I was really difficult getting into all the creases of the sphere's, and with the last sphere I wanted to take the two ends and rotate them back, but it wouldn't let me. I also wanted to paint the buttons on the front, which is what I wish I would have done.

3. I think that it would be a great invention for the future because, people everday are designing, and creating new things, and this invention just makes it a little easier, because it takes that image that you have created in your head, and puts it into action through a transparent computer screen.

Utopian Invention Design Brainstorm

STEP ONE:

1. Give reasons for why you think Da Vinci invented the inventions on the reverse of this sheet.

I think that Da Vinci invented these inventions because, Da Vinci wanted to have an impact in the world, and all of his inventions today in the present, are all used to a great amount. Also because, I think that  he wanted to achieve the impossible, and technically he did made the impossible, possible. I also think that Da Vinci wasn't like everyone else, I believe that he saw the world in a different view than what most people see it as. Although he never saw his inventions come to life, I think he designed them for are time, or hoping that someone would find his lost work and create it hoping, it will become of good use, and help people of the world.

2. Choose one of DaVinci’s inventions, and explain why you think it has had the biggest impact on modern society.

I think that Da Vinci's deisgn for the Flying Machine has had most definatly the biggest impact on modern society because, everything is flying now examples are, airplanes obviously, parachutes, human parachutes. I think that it has had an impact because, we are a very intelligant race, and we are always coming up with new was of flying.

STEP TWO:

Make up a list of 3 inventions that would enrich our lives.

1) Memory Designer that let's you create images in your head, and then transfers to your computer.

2) Life Long Battery for your laptop, so your laptop never dies.

3) Infinity Backpack because, even if your backpack is to heavy with books, and pencil cases, the Infinity Backpack makes your bag lighter than air.

My Alter Ego

How does this image show your alter ego?

These images show my alter ego because, the airplane and the cities tells that I want to travel, specifically to South Korea and Germany. The really enjoy summer and winter activites, tubing is my favourite thing to do besides skiing in winter, and also in summer. The paper lanturn indicates that i'm a carefree person, I just go with the flow. I chose the picture of the earth because, I'm a down to earth and friendly person, and that I love nature. I'm a person who enjoys art mostly drawing, I love vibrant colours and that why I chose the drops of colour. My favourite flower is a lotus, and I love how the just drift, it reminds me of myself, they try to chose the smoothest path, but sometime go on a rough, different, and maybe life altering path.

What aspect of your image do you find most successful and why?

The two cities combined into one, and the airplanes because, it's been a life long dream to travel. Mostly to Germany because, most of my family is from Germany and I would love to travel there to explore something different. I also would absolutely love to travel to South Korea, they have something that I'm just attracted to, it's a vibrant, exciting culture, and colourful. it's very different from Canada, and I'm ready to feel something different, and to do something I haven't done or tried yet.

What aspect of your image do you find least successful and why?

To be honest, I don't know. I feel like my collage is missing something, but I just don't know what.

If you could do this project again, what changes would you make to improve it?

I would completely redo it, I think i could have spent more time on it, but I would keep the picture of myself. I would also probably pick different, and add more images.

Brush Picture

My Hidden Self - Brainstorm

What are five interesting things that most people don't know about you?

- I love South Korea and Germany, I really want to visit the Holocaust Museum in Berlin, and the house of Anne Frank in Frankfurt.
- I would love to travel to South Korea, Germany, and Italy.
- I mostly listen to korean music.
- I have to fall asleep listening to my iPod
- I'm usually shy, I'm not the onedon't start a converstation, so I let the other person start it, then I gradually talk. But lately I've been trying not to be so shy.

What are three things that your friends would say about your personality?

- That I'm pretty funny
- I speak my mind
- Sometimes I can be pretty quiet

Is there anything that you wish you could change about yourself or show more of to the world?

I wish that I could show more of my creative side, and probably more social, most of my family calls me a hermit because, I like to stay in my room a lot, but I do go outside when it's not so wet and damp. I love the winter time though :)

What are your five biggest goals/dreams for your future ?

- I want to travel, and see new cultures, and see new things, I don't plan to live in Canada forever.
- That I want to learn how to speak Korean and German.
- I want to go to university, and teach English abroad.
- I want to meet someone loyal, funny, and trustworthy.
- One day I want to be someone besides myself, I want to do everything opposite, things I usually wouldn't do, so more spontaneous; and look at the world differently, than I see it now.

Final:

To my friends at school, I'm funny, and an interesting person to be around. But when I'm at home, I feel like I can be myself, and just be in my own little world. The number one thing I think about when I'm at home, is traveling, I really want to travel. I love Canada but, I feel like there is a piece missing in me, and it's telling me to be spontaneous and just forget about everything, and just travel; see new things, and meet new and interesting people.
